Greece Has a Record Unemployment Rate in February

Unemployment in Greece reaches a new record, the agencies report.

According to data from the national statistical service, supplied today, unemployment reached a rate of 21,7 %. One month earlier, it was 21,3 %.

In the group of citizens aged 15 to 24, it reaches a record-breaking 54 %.

Nearly 1,1 million citizens are unemployed. That is 42 % more than the same month last year.

Data from the statistical service show that the number of the employed citizens is 8 % lower and has reached the lowest number so far of only 3,87 million employed citizens.

Unemployment is highest in the bigger cities, especially in Athens, the agencies point out.
