Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska appointed Voislav Dimitrovski as the new acting manager of Lajka, the public company tasked with caring for stray animals. Arsovska dismissed Tina Petrusevska from the post.
Management of the stray dogs and cats population is a major issue in Skopje, with frequent reports of dog attacks on pedestrians and traffic accidents.
The new director of Lajka is a veterinarian, who was a national animal welfare consultant for FAO and UNDP project leader on the same issue.
