REPORT VIOLATION OF THE VOTING RIGHT: This is the ombudsman’s toll free number

Citizens in the first round of local elections on Sunday will be able to report any violation of the right to vote on the toll-free telephone line 0800-54321 , which will operate from 7:00 to 19:00 in the Ombudsman’s office.

The Ombudsman also informs that all seven offices of the Ombudsman will be open for the citizens in: Skopje, Bitola, Kicevo, Kumanovo, Strumica, Tetovo and Stip, in order to help them in exercising and protecting their voting rights.

In addition to the toll-free line, citizens will be able to call the following telephone numbers for protection of their rights: Tetovo: 044 344-082, Strumica: 034 329-996, Kicevo: 045 228-586, Bitola: 047 242-310, Stip: 032 389-701 and Kumanovo: 031 431-488.

– The Ombudsman will protect the rights of the citizens by taking urgent measures for effective action by the competent bodies in the election process and other institutions that are obliged to provide protection of their guaranteed rights, said in a statement from the Ombudsman’s Office. 

The Office of the Ombudsman also emphasizes that the right to vote is constitutionally guaranteed as equal, general and direct and is exercised in free elections by secret ballot and that no one should be held accountable for exercising this right, which is why Accidentally violating the freedom of choice of voters as well as other violations of the right to vote are punishable offenses, and appeals to all stakeholders in the election process to respect the health protocols established for the manner of voting.
