Mandatory vaccination against Covid for people working in the health sector will take effect in France today. The measure is for about 2.7 million people in the health sector.

To continue their profession, from today, they will have to provide proof that they have received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine. Two months after French President Emmanuel Macron issued an ultimatum to health workers, some continue to refuse to be vaccinated. According to the latest data from the authorities, as of September 7, just over 88 percent of health workers in hospitals and nursing homes received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

French medical unions have warned that a health catastrophe could ensue if medics who refuse to be vaccinated stop practicing their profession and call on the authorities to avoid imposing sanctions.
