Protests begin in six cities over rising electricity prices

The protest march against the increase in electricity prices has gained momentum. The protests in Skopje, Tetovo, Gostivar, Debar, Kichevo and Struga will start at 6 pm, and in Kumanovo at 2 pm.

It is requested to repeal the decision for increase of electricity prices by 7.4%, dissolution of the Energy Regulatory Commission and establishment of body in the Parliament that will review and address all complaints of citizens to energy companies.

The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Macedonia as organizers also called for massive presence at the protest.

In Skopje, the protest will start from the park in Chair and Woman Park and will march in front of the Government. In Tetovo, the march will start from the roundabout at the former Monopoly, at “Memoja” and at the kindergarten “Spring” and will end at Ilirija Square.

In Kumanovo, the protest will start from the municipal building and will end in front of EVN, and in Debar, the protest will start in front of the municipal building and will march to the EVN headquarters. In Kichevo, the protest will take place in the town square.

This is the second protest. The first protest was organized in Chair, Tetovo, Gostivar and Kumanovo.
