More than 7,600 French tourists visited Macedonia in 2015

According to the TourMag, French travel magazine, the number of international arrivals i.e. 485,530 foreign tourists in Macedonia is increased by 14.2% in 2015, MIA reports from Paris.


The country totals more than one million commercial overnight stays (1,036,383) over the year, statistical data of the magazine show.

In this context, the French market gained 41.4% for the destination in one year, while 7,603 French visitors who visited Macedonia realised 17,284 overnight stays.

French tourists represent only 1.57% of all international arrivals in Macedonia, but their presence has the strongest growth. The number of guests from France was higher than by 41,4% in 2015 compared to 2014, and guests from Netherlands (+23,4%), Britain (15,7%), Germany (15,4%) and Belgium (+14,6%).

Since 2013, the average length of stay of French tourists in Macedonia was increased by 21% and on average they spend 2.2 nights.

The increase in French tourists in Macedonia is due to the more ambitious tourist presentation of Macedonia in France which is the world’s leading tourist destination.
