I would just like to illustrate, last year, the total export from the technological industrial development zones has reached EUR 1.5 billion, if we go back to 2009, then the export stood at EUR 22 million only, said the head of the free economic zones directorate, Viktor Mizo.

Mizo gave the statement during the presentation of the accountability report of ruling VMRO-DPMNE party, which is taking place Sunday night at the Jane Sandanski sports center.

“Therefore, we can see the height of the growth in the past 6 years, but at the same time, the contribution of that export last year to the total export from Macedonia, and around 36% of it has been realized by the companies based in the zones. What is very important, is the large export diversity – now we have high added value, products such as catalysts, buses, airbags, electronics, car seats cases, but at the same time, we see that the growth increases by the year,” Mizo said.

He added that the expectations from the industrial zones only will reach EUR 2 billion.

“Last year, we grew by 26%, in February this year we had the highest monthly export from the zones in the amount of EUR 145 million. If we continue with this pace, this year, we plan another increase of 20 to 25 percent, which means, in near future, we will reach EUR 2 billion of exports only from the zones,” Mizo pointed.
