After the working breakfast that Szijjártó and his Austrian counterpart Sebastian Kurtz organized for the EU integration process of Macedonia, among other heads of diplomacy of the EU countries, were present and Fatmir Besimi Vice Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Popovski.

After the meeting, Szijjártó on behalf of the EU asked to respect the will of the Macedonian people who voted for the Government, and he pointed out that “what Macedonian opposition does not want elections, speaks enough about the current situation.”

– This morning we had breakfast with the friends of Macedonia in order to show our commitment to the current Macedonian Government regarding the EU integration of the country and I would like to point some brief facts. The first is that the interest of Member States of the EU is Macedonia to be successful in the integration process in the EU. The second fact is that the current Government of Macedonia has done a lot in order to be successful in the EU integration process. Third, Macedonia recently played a very positive role when it comes to migrant crisis. In fact, Macedonia had more positive role than some other Member States of the EU when it comes to the increased flow of migration to central Europe, said Szijjártó initially.

Hungarian Foreign Minister was especially particular when it comes to the political crisis in the country.

– The fourth fact is that we must respect the will of the Macedonian people. Macedonian people voted for this Government for four elections in row. The current Government did not win the power and position in the lottery, but at the parliamentary elections. We, not only EU but, also European institutions must respect the fact that this Government won the power at the parliamentary elections, stated Szijjártó.

As final point in his first appearance at the press conference after the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary singled out the behavior of the Macedonian opposition in the country and their obstruction of the Agreement from Przhino.

– My last point is that the situation is very strange in Macedonia, because the opposition wants early elections as soon as possible. I think it says a lot about the current situation, said Peter Sijarto.

Hungarian Minister was sincere and how the EU can really help to resolve the situation in the Macedonian state:

– My opinion and my view is that the EU should support the current administration to overcome this kind of crisis situation. The opposition is to decide whether it wants to participate in the work of Parliament or not. According to our measurements, the strength of democracy can be measured on whether the opposition wants to participate in the work of Parliament or not and I think it very, very telling that the main opposition party is trying to postpone the date for early parliamentary elections from time to time. That says a lot, is decisive Sijarto.
