Genomics and Proteomics Lab becomes fully accredited

The Laboratory for Genomics and Proteomics within the Research Centre for Genetic Research and Biotechnology “Georgi D. Efremov” in the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts becomes fully accredited and tests performed so far will be now internationally recognized.


Laboratory, which is part of government’s project for equipping 80 laboratories in faculties and institutions in the country, was visited today by Deputy Education Minister Spiro Ristovski.

This is a very important step and the second phase of the procurement process and that is its accreditation. Seven basic methods of the laboratory have been accredited, by which now it becomes fully accredited. All tests performed in the lab, early diagnosis of genetic, hereditary malignant diseases, are now recognized regionally and internationally, Ristovski said.

He also informed that out of 80 laboratories, 42 are accredited, 11 completed the accreditation process and 3 other labs at the Faculty of Civil Engineering will soon be accredited.

The remaining thirty labs already have began accreditation process and need to correct certain details aimed at obtaining accreditation certificates from the Institute for Accreditation in Macedonia by midyear, Ristovski said.
