The unemployment in Macedonia is reduced and fell at 27.3%

The unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2015 was 27.3 percent, the lowest level ever, according to the latest data from the State Statistical Office. These data show that continues the continued drop in unemployment as a result of government measures, foreign investment and continuous improvement of business climate. Unemployment in SDSM era was 38% was  decreased for 10.7 percent.

According to the State Statistical Office, in the first quarter of 2015, the active population in Macedonia was 959,388 people, out of which 697,248 are employed and 262,140 were unemployed. The activity rate in this period was 57.3 percents, the employment rate is 41.6, while the unemployment rate is 27.3.

According to these official statistics, the unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the fourth quarter of 2014 is decreased by 0.3 percent. In the last quarter of last year, unemployment was 27.6%. Compared with the first quarter of last 2014 when it was 28.4 percent, unemployment has decreased by 1.1 percent.

The number of unemployed in the first quarter this year amounted to 262 140 persons compared to the fourth quarter of 2014 decreased by 3.230 persons or 1.2%. Compared to the first quarter of 2014, the number of unemployed decreased by 9975 persons or 3.7%.

The employment rate in the first quarter 2015 was 41.6%, in the fourth quarter of 2014 was 41.5% i.e. increased by 0.1 percentage points, while compared to the first quarter of 2014 (41.0%) It increased by 0.6 percentage points.

The number of employees in the first quarter of 2015 was 697 248 people. Compared to the first quarter of 2014 the number of employees was increased by 10,971 persons or 1.6%. Compared with the second quarter of 2011, the number of employees in the first quarter of 2015 was increased by 54 439 persons or 8.5%.
