Memorandum to support reproductive music artists

The Ministry of Culture, the City of Skopje, the Union of Music Artists of Macedonia, the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, Ohrid Summer festival, and the Association of Culture Centers of Macedonia signed Monday a memorandum of cooperation towards enhancing chamber and concert activities.


The memo urges for incentives to reproductive music artists, intensifying of their cooperation with national institutions and proper representation of domestic works at the repertoire.

“We have implemented series of measures towards enhancing the status of reproductive artists in Macedonia, such as employment of 150 musicians in our institutions, higher salaries, introduction of title National Artist and national pensions, which truly acknowledge the artistic efforts of all those who have invested their professional credibility in building the image of Macedonian culture”, said Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska.

According to her, the memorandum would give room to artists in culture institutions throughout Macedonia.

“This document will intensify the cooperation among the Union of Music Artists, national and local culture institutions, resulting in the stimulation of concert and chamber activities, but also the promotion of domestic works”, stressed Kanceska-Milevska.
