It is a challenge to maintain more than 500 employees timely informed, but there are enough tools or media that allow it. Seavus has 500 employees, many projects and many teams.

This was stated by Biserka Koneska, Marketing Manager at Seavus, in the interview with Kurir.

– Once a week we publish electronic newsletter, Seavus Life, with all events in which we have participated as a company or we will participate, whether it comes to conferences, trade shows, trainings or sports events. The content of this newsletter is combined with information about the latest versions of our products, and life events in all of our offices in 6 countries, and interviews with staff. All this in order our colleagues to get to know with the professional life of every employee, their hobbies and interests. Also a review of the latest technological developments in the world is done weekly, she said.

Can you capture any part of the events that are conducted for interior needs?

-Following and living our values, including knowledge, we organized a number of trainings attended by our staff and students of technical faculties. The most interesting and most visited are certainly the socializing parties to mark the birthday of the company or the Christmas parties. Clichés are overcame in Seavus, so last week we organized a spring event which included preparing and tasting delicious food in almost all of our offices around the world. It was interesting that in Skopje managers were preparing food in our yard for all the employees. We all enjoyed the beautiful afternoon, accompanied by beer and good music. Our Telecom Division, which is an international team, not long ago organized cooking contest in which there was local, European, Latin American and Indian dishes. Seavus is a company in which baby boom is happening several years now, and the number of Seavus children is 150 and we traditionally mark 1 June- International Children’s Day together. Following our strategy to support diversity, we organize a presentation day where employees present their active hobbies, interests and what they enthusiastically do in their free time. I must mention the serious lovers of sport and active life. Thus, Seavus participates and marks success in several sports competitions. Last month we participated in Belgrade and Skopje Marathon, and this month the marathon in Malmo, Sweden. We play football, basketball, ping pong, so this month we take part in the month of sport in Skopje.

What can the IT staff expect from such a modern company, besides salary? Does Seavus offer complete status of a modern employer?

-Employees can expect understanding of their multidisciplinary interests and the possibility of their own upgrades. Seavus is a place where anyone who has the desire and ambition to improve, can achieve this through numerous training, mentoring programs and projects.

In this dynamic environment people juggle with the professional and private life and it is important to think of the balance between work and privacy.

We seriously spend time and resources on this topic. Recently a gym started working in our development center in Skopje.

Every day we have a program of pilates and aerobics, yoga and exercises that can be done during the working time, outside of the working time and on weekends, it depends on employees’ desire, like in the big companies in the world.

We have developed an entire program that includes a variety of benefits for employees that improve quality of life, sponsored by Seavus.

What programs for additional education for staff exist in Seavus?

-We organize technical, managerial and introductory training programs. Technical programs are dedicated to technologies for software development that we de facto work on. Introductory program is part of organizational socialization policy, created for new employees and the process of their integration, and includes corporate procedures, development of communication skills and presentation, team work, business ethics etc. The management program, which is active third year in a row, includes modern training activities such as, game theory, strategic management, decision-making and popular “board” games (eg. chess). Furthermore, traditional trainings on management topics, online lessons from experienced lecturers from reputed colleges of the United States, business simulations, biofeedback, cognitive training activities and many more. It must mention our educational and development center SEDC where our employees despite the opportunity to be trained, get an opportunity to grow themselves as trainers, sharing their expertise with students.

How do you manage to keep the employees interested, happy and focused?

-We trust our employees and support them in independent decision-making. We direct our employees towards acceptance of responsibility which increases their engagement and sense of belonging, so the people are interested, but also self-conscious and self-responsible.

What are Seavus plans to expand the number of employees outside Skopje? On what is based this expansion?

-The drive towards innovation, increased workload, entrance into new segments of the IT industry and the desire for development are the reasons for expansion in the country. We will invest anywhere where there is potential for development of local IT talents.

What is the Seavus cooperation with universities like?

-The cooperation is excellent. We have a constant exchange of experiences, knowledge and respect with the technical faculties FINKI, FEIT and the Faculty of Economics. Students are our frequent guests and have the chance to hear about the experiences of our experts through training, knowledge competitions and presentations that we host.

How does colleagues from different countries employed in Seavus work together? Are there cultural and national barriers in communication?

-This year is our anniversary, Seavus exists 15 years as an international IT company. During this time we have already surpassed those obstacles with the help of advanced communication technology and by setting the culture of an international company. The business is global and dynamic everywhere so colleagues from all offices belong to the same team that aims to excellence, sharing knowledge, and desire for more than just the average.
