Institute “Confucius” at the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje today to celebrate the traditional Chinese holiday Duanwu.

A lecture on the origin, history, meaning and traditions associated with the Duanwu holiday will be held at the National and University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Skopje.

A short film on traditional dishes that are prepared for the holiday will be shown, and there will be rice dumplings tasting, a dish traditionally served at festive table.

This significant holiday is celebrated in China for more than 2,000 years. Duanwu in Chinese tradition is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month, and celebrates the patriotic poet Qu Yuan (340-278 BC) and represents an opportunity for the Chinese people to protect their health and prevent diseases.
