Macedonian – Russian cooperation in the field of metrology

Mr. Dimitar Parnardziev, Director of the Bureau of Metrology and Fedor B. Vladilenovich, Deputy Director Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology (Rosstandart), Moscow, Russian Federation, today officially signed a Memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of metrology.

The main issues of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, is promoting cooperation in sharing of knowledge, participation in research projects, transfer of knowledge through the organization of training of staff and participation in seminars, and development and introduction of new methods and measurement techniques in the daily work.

Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology (Rosstandart), Moscow play a leading role in the field of metrology within their countries and are intended to provide uniformity in the measurements on national and international levels, and creating policy and harmonization of legislation in the field of metrology.

The Memorandum is a framework that defines the already initiated cooperation with the Federal Agency for Metrology and Technical Legislation so that Macedonian meteorologists can have access to superior training, and experts from Russia to be able to transfer their knowledge and experience.

The memorandum will specifically focus on the promotion, development potentials and exchange of experience in legal metrology, and in scientific research work of the Bureau, which is in its infancy.

There was a working visit to the National Metrology Institute of Russia (VNIIMS), established under the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology, within the Memorandum signing. There was a meeting with the Director of the institute Prof. Dr. Kononogov Sergey, Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Lev K. Issaev, and the person in charge of International Cooperation, Mr. Sergey Komisarov. VNIIMS is scientific research institution worldwide, whose main activity is research and policy for achieving uniformity of measurements internationally. Also, VNIIMS is an institution that is responsible for the implementation of legislation in the field of metrology.

Also a working visit will be paid to Central Research Institute of Physical and Technical Measurements (VNIIFTRI), whose main business is the realization of measurement standards for many areas of measurement and dissemination of measurement units nationwide, as well as realizing traceability in measurements at the international level.
