MES marks Victory Day over Fascism and Europe Day

MES today organized a cultural event at Macedonia Square dedicated to 9 May, Victory Day over fascism and Europe Day.

The victory of the biggest evil to mankind- fascism and the creation of the EU were symbolically celebrated with the performance of musical works by students from the Ballet School “Ilija Nikolovski Luj” – Skopje and the exhibition of paintings of students DSULUD “Lazar Licenoski” Skopje.

Besides the many visitors at the square, the students were visited by the Minister of Education and Science Spiro Ristovski.

– This year for the first time we will establish a practice of marking a symbolic ceremony of 9 May, Victory Day of fascism and Europe Day, Ristovski said.

Students from these two schools, the Minister pointed out, painted images with EU motives and the Macedonian fight against fascism, and students from the music school played eminent works of European and world composers.

Besides this event in honor of this great day 9 May, MES organized many other activities.

In all primary and secondary schools today, the first class was devoted to Day of Victory over Fascism, and Europe Day.

280,000 students from all schools in Macedonia took part in this class and discussed the events, the historical background and the values ​​of the anti-fascist struggle and the creation of the EU, on the initiative of MES.

On this occasion, Minister Ristovski together with the mayor of the municipality of Kisela Voda, Biljana Aleksic-Belicanec visited students from elementary school “Kuzman Josifovski – Pitu” in Kisela Voda, and attended the class where they discussed with students about the participation and importance of Macedonia’s anti-fascist struggle.

-9 May is a bright day in the history of mankind, because marks two huge wins. I attended a class at the “Kuzman Josifovski – Pitu” primary school and this school is not randomly selected, this school bears the name of one of the greatest creators of ideological struggle for freedom and independence in the Second World War, one of the main fighters against fascism in Macedonia, Minister Ristovski said.

Mayor Belicanec indicated that students stated their knowledge of Macedonian history and debated on the right choice of Macedonia during the Second World War as well as the right choice today and that is integration into European and Euro-Atlantic processes.
