Celebration for Europe Day

More than 50 events will be organized to mark the 64th birthday of the European Union in the country, which would also make closer the European integration process to the citizens.


Among the events that will be part of the celebration on 9 May – Europe Day are the traditional day of the European flag, Skopje Marathon, European Happening in Skopje, and numerous debates, lectures, competitions, cultural events and local celebrations taking place throughout the country.

In Debar, Ohrid, Gevgelija, Kavadarci, Kochani, Bitola, Tetovo, Gostivar, Strumica, Veles and Kriva Palanka will be organized happenings for the Europe Day with aim to celebrated European idea at local level.

The EU bus will again travel throughout the country and will visit Chaska, Centar Zhupa, Shemshevo, Rostushe, Josifovo, Novaci, Studenichani, Istibanja, Zrnovci and Staro Nagorichane.

The celebration of Europe Day is organized by the Delegation of the European Union in partnership with the Secretariat for European Affairs, European Movement, the embassies of member states, and other local institutions.

At the EU InfoCentre in Skopje, today the ambassador Aivo Orav, Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Besimi, the President of the European Movement Professor Mileva Gjurovska will announce details of the events for marking the Europe Day.
