Macedonia presents its tourist potential for the third time at the TUR-Swedish International Travel and Tourism Trade Fair 2014 in Gothenburg, Sweden, which started yesterday and runs until 23 March.

At this year’s fair, as MIA reports from Gothenburg, participate over 500 exhibitors, agencies, tour operators and enterprises from the tourist sector, from over 90 countries worldwide. Over 30,000 visitors are expected to visit TUR this year.

The stand of the Republic of Macedonia is prepared by the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism of the Republic of Macedonia, with rich tourist representative material, various brochures and leaflets. The stand was yesterday visited by a number of journalists from leading Swedish newspapers, including “Svenska Dagbladet” and “Dagens Nyheter”, and one of the most widely read magazines in the field of tourism and travel “Vagabundo” and the popular tourist site reseguiden.se.

– We have made contact with the Association of Swedish Travel Agents and Tour Operators and tourist agencies from neighboring Scandinavian countries, says Mirjana Naumovska, economic promoter of Macedonia in Sweden and Finland.

On 22 March, at the Macedonian stand at TUR, a Macedonian day will be held with wine and culinary specialties and performance of members, folklorists and musicians of Macedonian Association “Goce Delchev” in Gothenburg.

Skopje last year climbed high on the list of popular tourist destinations among Swedes, who in 2013 searched twice as many trips to Skopje in comparison with 2012. The summarized data of the popular tourist site “Skyscanners” shows.

The interest in Skopje is associated with low-cost flights that directly connect Sweden to Skopje with three major Swedish urban centers – Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.
