The European Parliament will debate Wednesday afternoon the report on Macedonia’s progress in 2013, prepared by MEP Richard Howitt, MIA reports from Strasbourg.

In the resolution, to be voted on Thursday, the European Parliament once again urges the European Council to determine a date for the start of Macedonia’s accession talks without further delay, adding that bilateral problems should not hinder the beginning of the negotiations, although they should be settled before the end of the accession process.

According to the draft-text, bilateral and good neighborly relations should be constructive, taking into consideration the UN and EU principles.

Greece is urged to use its EU Presidency and give the integration process a fresh stimulus, thus confirming its engagement within the Thessaloniki 2003 agenda and create a positive environment for settlement of bilateral differences in the spirit of European values.

Macedonia is urged to resume with the reforms and put an end to the policies and practice that might represent an obstacle to its European future, as well as achieve progress in areas noted in the European Council conclusions.
